Briana Blasko

Briana Blasko is a San Francisco-born portrait photographer who studied at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Before moving to India in 2008, she lived in New York for twelve years, where she and Spiro met over chai and ashtanga yoga. In New York she photographed contemporary dance for the New York Times; but for the past eight years, she’s been quietly crisscrossing the Indian sub-continent to document the country’s rich traditions of textiles and dance and the interplay between the two. Her work has culminated in the production of a series of photographic works which Briana hand-carried from India to SFO, and which Spiro carefully packed in his luggage from SFO to LAX so that we might carry them in our shop. They’re stunning works of art, and for us, evoke an imaginal, mystical part of the human experience.
